I?m Oli and I was born in Toronto and my family is from Vietnam. In my high school years, I liked studying about Food, Restaurants, Baking. In 2007 I went to George Brown College to study part-time Hospitality and then I went to YMCA to learn the culinary and baking hands on program.
In August this year, with help from Community Outreach Canada, I was selected to travel with Golden Horseshoe Culinary Team to Luxembourg for the international competition. This was my first experience to work with all professionals and saw many other teams from other countries especially the professional work they do.
The first thing I learned was teamwork and how everything must be organized and on time. Also how everyone worked continuously. To cook good food is one thing but culinary art and decoration are very important as well and I learned a lot from this.
I would like to say thanks to Community Outreach Canada for giving me this opportunity and for making my trip happen.
And also, I would like to say thank you so much to Chef Ed and Chef Tony and the entire team for helping and teaching me. All of you inspired me. I hope to become like you and get a medal too.
